The last time I was around kids my age was in sixth grade, 3 years ago. I'm entering eight grade now. I haven't interacted with teens other then my family, and this girl on a phone for a few weeks, for 3 years so..
I heard silly bandz are popular. I thought those things were on it with preschoolers - seventh graders but it wouldn't surprise me. Kids are kids.
The TV shows, video games, accessories, books, clothing, school related things, movies, topics, etc.
Lemme guess..
iCarly, Chowder, Adventure Time, Naruto, and Victorious.
Halo and Metal Gear'. Maybe Pokemon.
Silly bandz.
Twilight %26amp; Harry Potter.
Brightly colored stuff you could pick up at Hot Topic, and jeans.

I have been out of 8th grade for a while..haha
But I can tell you one thing - a lot of girls are hoesssss.
Middle school kids just want to be like high school kids these days.|||LOL 8th graders here hate that stuff. I don't know what girls like but guys like Modern Warfare 2, We don't watch Nick or cartoonnetwork or that baby stuff, Pokemon is for 3rd graders. Our general hobbies include food, girls, food, hanging out with friends, food, airsoft, food and just being generally stupid around each other. Silly bands are pretty popular.... just don't wear alot of them. http://www.akumuink.com|||I'm not 100% sure on this, b/c I was in 8th grade 4 years ago so I'm sure a lot has changed. But some of these are popular in high school, some of them is just personal preference. You shouldn't just go with what everyone else likes, go with what you like.
Shows:
~ Soap Operas: Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars, Vampire Diaries, One Tree Hill. Stuff like that are usually "safe" to watch.
~ Cartoons: The Simpsons, South Park, King of the hill, Family Guy.
~ I personally like Doctor Oz, he gives out excellent advice and I learn a lot from his TV show.
~ Discovery channel is also pretty good when there's nothing else on.
~ Much Music or whatever your music channel is and will always be appropriate. Most teenagers %26amp; pre-teens like music, so that's definitely "safe".

The only thing I can say with confidence is Uggs. A nice decent purse is good to (brand doesn't matter so much if you go to public school, it just has to look nice).

Beyonce is always good as well.|||Do don't say anything about pokemon because you will be made fun of so much, don't talk about cartoons at all. Dating is all the rav in 8th grade and a couple kids already had sex in my grade, (i am in 9th grade now) Halo and Call of Duty is in with the Guys. Hot Topic is a good store to get cloths and Aeropostle and American Eagle. Twilight is hot in any school.

accessories: bright scarfs,big sun glasses, nerd wear such as: geek glasses/over sized beads/funny shirts with ninjas and hello kitty/ect. retro like: scrunchies.
clothing: nerd wear, skirts, brand named shirts, jeans,knee high socks,uggs,skate shoes,cowboy boots
movies: dear John, the notebook,whip it, little miss sun shine, fired up, toy story 3 (only cuz we waited so long for it)

Dating:every one kinda sticks with there own group, sex yeah right unless your the schools slut.
sex is a pretty hot topic but every one lies that they done it. oh and stay away from jelly bracelets the ones that come in cute fun colors they have a dark past. each color means some thing you will do with a boy if you do it you get a bracelet showing the color what it means once a guy snaps the bracelet off of you then you must preform that act on him and so on. There are alot of different brands and colors/designs. They are usually around $50-$100.
I see girls that age wearing skinny jeans and long tops. Aeropostale.com is a great site to buy school clothes, there are a popular brand name and their clothing is very cheap! They have alot of styles and clothes to choose from.
Do not wear any t-shirts with "pokemon, twilight, celebs, bands etc" on it because some people will make fun of you, sorry :(
Dating ... stay away from it. Im 15 and I know guys..they only want sex from you. Relationships dont last in middle school..please wait!
