How do you adjust to high school?

I won't be a freshman for one year, and I'll be fifteen then.

However..I don't feel so happy about going to high school. Heck, I don't feel so happy about going back to middle school. The thought makes my tummy hurt..

My outlook on what most teenagers do is more similar to a stereotypical "Children are innocent" type. Not being as sex obsessed as they really are, etc. Just playing around, worrying about love, school, etc.

But that's basically where I stand on the line, and everything else is..Meh. I still have a different look on life then other people, more open minded. But I keep to myself, except when I'm a bit cocky, so no problem.

I'm also not quite inviting, not even toward my family. I've thought once or twice that my cousins and aunts don't quite like being around me, but I doubt it. I pay little attention to people and I act negative toward them. I don't want any friends.

I also do have speech problems, as in I speak too low, don't pronounce certain word correctly, and stutter at times. I'm supposed to get therapy, which I don't want, but nothing has come up.

My interests are also different from other teenagers. I'm the daydreaming, game, cartoon, mature book, theater, education loving type.

I couldn't care less about most movies, live action shows (other then iCarly and Sonny with a Chance), teen books, celebrities, etc

How do you adjust to high school, or even middle school, smoothly?|||lol you dont have a chance to adjust...you just go and survive for four years and then youre free|||Be yourself, don't let other people change who you truly are just to fit in with high school. Change is good sometimes though, but not when you no longer feel yourself. What really helped me during my high school years was joining a cross country team. There I met my friends, improved my health, and my grades by taking a break from homework (yes, there is something as too much studying). I know, this is a little off topic, but there's a theory about balancing work with play. Without this balance, the progress of your education will be almost diddly squat.|||Freshman year can feel overwhelming at first, I'll be honest. It's a huge change from middle school, you're more independent.

It's perfectly fine if you feel that way, everyone in high school has their own personality, there aren't any real cliques. I'm not really sure how I adjusted, time wears on and I got used to the high school world, you could call it.

My only tip to you is that you give everything a chance, but don't get involved with drama.|||Well, middle school, well, 6th and 7th grade year was miserable. Then 8th grade year, at the end of the year, that was the best part, because I made alot of close friends.

Then, I just finished my freshman year of high school.

I am attending a early college high school, so its not like a regular high school. Its kind of like it has the same problems like at regular high schools (drugs/sex/alcohol) but everyone isn't stupid enough to get caught.

Its academically based (which I miss soccer dearly) but even though I miss my old friends, and I still keep in touch with them, I made new ones, and its honestly the most I've ever had CLOSE CLOSE friends, and actually found people alot like me. The older kids don't really pick on me, they actually come up and talk to me, even though I don't have any interest in most of them.|||OMG i sound exactly like me!! im 15 (if u older ima sure my advice can help) bt from ireland so we dont av high school or middle school (so ima nt sure what age group u r)

bt when i went into secondary school when i was 12 i really wasnt lookin forward to it

i love to day-dream do it bout 60 percentage of the time lmao watch sonny with a chance (LUV IT) ima nt very social i prefer to be alone and read and what not and i no my family just sees my as the 'anti-social teen' bt thats the way i am! and also ima big BIG fan of drama and theatre (i study it now for GCSE's) and i hate thing to new people i get really nervous and i can bearly get out a sentence

bt trust me it will work out fine high school is a big place and the first day i didnt no anyone the 2 friends i came with to my school were in 2 different classes!! bt when we were in form class telling each other about ourselfs i said i had 2 horses luv horse riding and luv drama, and straight after when we were going to break this girl lauren (it was weird cause my name is lauren) walked up to me and started asking me about my horses (she had a pony 2) and since then we av been best friend and nothin can part us :D you might nt be as lucky bt trust just be truthful with what you like and dislike there is no point say u like stuff and hate it then people might try to become your friend because of it and thats not who you are.

sorry if i sound like some cheesy loser thats just my opinion....and maybe you should rethink going to someone to help you with your speech you dont have to tell anyone at your school and you should be embarrassed....like i have dyscalculia (kinda like dyslexia but just cant do maths instead of english) and i never told anyone and didnt get it seen to and now im doing my GCSE's and im in the top maths class (just cause over all im in a top class) but i know i can't handle it and im going to fail my maths but its to late now cause my maths is next week...it has been one of my biggest mistakes ima going to get it seen now for next year...
